In this short series of videos, Dr Ervin Laszlo talks about his 35 year journey from Systems Theory pioneer, through his years at the United Nations, the creation of The Club of Budapest, his co-authoring of The Manifesto on Planetary Consciousness with the Dalai Lama, and to his concept of WorldShift 2012 as an urgent wake-up call for changing our way of being and thinking.

In part 1 of this 10-part series, Dr. Laszlo explains his move from Systems Theory to WorldShift. He is invited to Princeton University to give a series of seminars based on his book, “The Systems View of the World”.
The founder of the Club of Rome, Aurelio Peccei, asks Dr. Laszlo to write a report which leads to the authoring of his book, “The Inner Limits of Mankind”. He begins work with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), and his book, “Goals for Mankind” is written.
Representing UNITAR, Ervin travels to Tokyo to promote the United Nations University. Upon returning to the UN, the Secretary General requests Dr. Laszlo to begin research on the New International Economic Order.
Research work at the UN continues on the New International Economic Order and proposals are presented to the General Assembly. Dr. Laszlo creates regional organizations to better facilitate cooperation among nations.
Dr. Laszlo continues his UN work with a project for the Regional and Interregional Cooperation of Developing Countries. He leaves the UN after seven years of dedicated work.
The World Federation of Hungarians holds a World Congress where Dr. Laszlo speaks on the need for an artists and writers club. The Prime Minister of Hungary, Jozsef Antall, asks Dr. Laszlo to create the Club of Budapest, which will be supported by the Hungarian Culture Foundation.
The mission of the Club of Budapest is established. The key concept is a new consciousness, new values, a new vision; a new paradigm, the idea of a Planetary Consciousness, is embraced.
In Part 8, Ervin meets with the Dalai Lama to discuss Planetary Consciousness. During the three hour session, The Manifesto on Planetary Consciousness is drafted and becomes the founding document of the Club of Budapest.
The Manifesto on Planetary Consciousness is made known to the world. Reports, publications and later the Internet are used to promote the global message. The Club of Budapest becomes a worldwide network of national chapters based on the Systems principle.
In this concluding video, the concept of WorldShift 2012 is addressed. The urgent need for a WorldShift based on a new consciousness is discussed, a wake-up call to change our way of being and thinking. A strategy for future WorldShift 2012 events is presented with closing thoughts.
